                EVENTS

         Saturday, March 7, 2026

                 1:00 - 2:30 p.m.

We are very pleased to announce that Patty Kohler EdD will speak and share things she has learned from volunteering through hospice and as a death doula. She will provide valuable insights and information we don't often approach or discuss. What have you learned when a friend or relative passed away that you wish you had known beforehand?

Patty is a retired UCA professor and has served for the past several years as a Life Touch Hospice Volunteer and end of life doula. She received her doula training from multiple sources, including the Center for Conscious Living and Aging in Ashville, Barbara Karnes, RN, and IAP Career College. She seeks to integrate end of life work with labyrinth facilitation and the Native American Flute.

The workshop will provide participants a safe place to discuss death and dying and explore resources related to end of life. Come curious and ready to listen and share.

We will have sweets, tea and coffee. Please feel free to bring something to share.

The event is free, but please text or call to register at (501) 450-8667.

              1:30 - 3:00 p.m.

            "Ties to Our Past"

Matthew Friant, a full-time interpreter at Pinnacle Mountain State Park, will introduce different native plants that were traditionally used to make cordage from the natural fibers. This will be a fun and informative experience where we can connect with the landscape and see how everyday items are made we now take for granted.

Matthew has also worked for the Nature Conservancy as their Recreational Use Manager. This involved working with several large preserves, partnering organizations and the general public to create the best possible solutions for public use of a particular preserve.

This will be a great time to re-connect with our natural environment and each other.

If weather permits, we will host the event on the large deck. We will also have tea, coffee and sweets, so please bring a favorite. If you don't feel like bringing anything, come anyway!

The event is free, but please let us know if you are coming. (501) 450-8667
